Dr. Hannah Aura Shoval is the Chief of Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine at Atlantic Health System (AHS) and a board member of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization (ACO). As medical director, she leads cross-functional teams and oversees several multidisciplinary clinics. She has a special interest in quality improvement, clinical informatics, and using the intersection to effect innovative, impactful changes that lead to system-level change and institutional growth.
Academically, she is a clinical associate professor at Rutgers/ New Jersey Medical School, where she was awarded the Faculty Quality Leadership Award. Dr. Shoval's academic contributions include multiple book chapters, online expert resources, and over 40 peer-reviewed manuscripts and abstracts. In 2019, her research was recognized as one of the top 10 articles in her field. She has been awarded several grants, most recently the 2024 Dean's Intramural Seed Research Grant at Rutgers School of Health Professions. She has lectured nationally and internationally on her clinical research and her work in Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) and Quality Improvement (QI). As a member of the national research committee of American Academy of Cerebral Palsy and Developmental Medicine, she reviews grant applications, promotes research quality, and helps organize national research courses for early and mid-career researchers. She also mentors extensively from college students to attending physicians.
Dr. Shoval is driven by a deep-seated compassion for others and is perhaps best known for her passion and drive for working towards health equity—galvanizing others with a clear vision and fostering an inclusive, purpose-driven culture. As a clinician, she leads by example and takes pride in delivering compassionate, high-quality care to individuals. As a leader, she is creative, strategic, and innovative. This passion extends to her volunteer work, and she is honored to serve as the health equity advisor on the advisory board at Rutgers Institute for Corporate Social Innovation (RICSI). She is inspired by the highly collaborative work of the high-powered executives on this board, the breadth and depth of their expertise, and the impact that RICSI makes on corporations and communities.
In her leisure time, she enjoys practicing gymnastics with her children and competing in ballroom dance competitions with her husband.
