George Goldman

Former Vice President, Strategy & Business Development, Becton Dickinson (BD)
George Goldman

George is a seasoned global executive with a consistent track record of developing high impact strategies, executing successful M&A, and achieving and exceeding objectives.  His career has spanned a broad array of roles, from general management, to strategy and business development, to commercial execution, to management consulting, to non-profit leadership.  His extremely strong analytic capabilities, highly developed critical thinking, and excellent interpersonal skills have helped him achieve success in all his roles and made him a sought after mentor and informal coach throughout his career.

George Goldman was most recently Vice President, Strategy & Business Development at Becton Dickinson (BD), where he led Global Strategy and M&A for BD’s largest business unit, Medication Delivery Solutions ($4+bn revenue), a position he held for eight years.  In that role, he led annual global business unit strategy development and supported development of regional, function and product strategies.  During this time, George helped lead the redefinition of the BU vision and strategy and the transformation of the business innovation strategy and priorities to a higher growth, higher impact agenda.  He also led and supported mergers and acquisitions at the BU level, and was often called upon to play key roles in transformative M&A at the BD Corporate level, including key leadership roles in the acquisitions of CR Bard ($24bn) and CareFusion ($12bn).

Earlier in his career at BD, he held roles in general management, including leading the $500+ million Hypodermic portfolio within BD to consistently meet/exceed financial objectives, and regional go-to-market execution, where he led U.S. pricing, distribution and contracting for BD’s Medical Surgical Systems BU.  Prior to BD, George spent five years at McKinsey & Company, successfully advising global corporations on strategy and operational challenges across a range of clients, predominantly in healthcare.

George holds a bachelor’s degree in Math and Computer Science from Cornell University, where he graduated Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa.  He subsequently received his M.B.A. in General Management from The University of Virginia Darden School of Business, where he was honored as a Shermet Scholar and admitted to UVA’s Raven Society.

George is currently serving as a Guest Lecturer for Rutgers Business School on topics of Strategy and Mergers & Acquisitions. He also is a Strategic Advisor for the Rutgers Institute for Corporate Social Innovation.

George’s leadership and impact extends to the non-profit sector, where he is currently serving his ninth year on the Board of Trustees of Homeless Solutions, Inc. (HSI), a $6 million non-profit that offers shelter, services and supporting housing to the homeless and working poor in Morris County, NJ with the objective to help people get housed AND equip them to stay housed.  George recently completed three years as Board Chair (which followed four years as Finance Committee Chair), where he led the 18-member board in setting vision/strategy, overseeing performance, and making key strategic decisions.  During his Board leadership, HSI successfully navigated through COVID and drove a transformation in annual financial performance, including a cumulative profit of $0.5 million during George’s Board Chairmanship vs. a cumulative loss of $0.7 million during the three years prior to George’s Board Chairmanship.  George has also been very active in the community more broadly, serving for many years as a youth sports coach for both Morristown Little League boys baseball and Morris United girls soccer while his children were pre-teens and teens.
